Here's the news:

Madeline Ava's new split is out on Sidejar records! Sidejar is an awesome Lexington, Kentucky based DIY label that sponsors great shows and releases. This particular record is a split with Kentucky native Joe Magnum. His music is awesome and he'll be playing some dates with us on tour this summer, which I'm really looking forward to. The album has six (probably incredible) songs from each artist. I'm going to order one and you should too. Madeline will be selling copies on tour, but you should buy it now so you know all the words when you come see us.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 342px; height: 342px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_aCxPnufts0U/SfJAF3k71yI/AAAAAAAAAUw/VSd_eL3cawE/s400/l_8dcb8c85180d44f3b41930e45e1b0042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328391778695108386" />
How to order (courtesy of Sidejar myspace):
Joe Mangum/Madeline Ava split CD $5ppd with cash or money order, or $5.50ppd with paypal!
To order with cash or money order, do the following: Send either exact well concealed cash, or a money order made out to Anthony Poynter to:
Anthony Poynter
145 N Ashland Ave Apt 3
Lexington KY 40502
Official Sidejar Website

Tour schedule has been updated again! Things change dude. We (Madeline) got a few cancellations and invitations and what not, here's the new itinerary!

Summer Tour 2009 Itinerary! That is maybe the best part of all! Sidejar is putting together the fourth annual Crucial Fun Fest! This show has an AMAZING three day punk lineup in Lexington and I am somehow lucky enough to be in the good state of Kentucky at the exact right time. A whole bunch of my favorite bands will be there including a bunch of bands that we will be playing with at different times in the tour! It's almost too good to be true. We were a late addition, so we'll be mostly digging the scene, but I was also informed that Madeline Ava, Mrs. Triceratops and myself are invited to play an "aftershow". It's gonna be super fun no matter what. Here's the flier for the pre-aftershow:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 259px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aCxPnufts0U/SfJI-QgyLRI/AAAAAAAAAVA/wJHTfV4bTZc/s400/l_6dab861ef37647ff98d053be64948223.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328401543554280722" />

Some of my favorite bands are coming to Buffalo this summer! You are so lucky and you don't even know it! Here are some dates, not to be missed.
5/5: Jeremy Jay @ Soundlab
5/9: Crystal Antlers @ Soundlab
5/12: Mad Happy @ Sugar City
5/14: Eric Ayotte @ Sugar City
6/17: Passion Pit @ Mohawk Place
6/21: Best Friends Forever!!! @ TBA
6/23: Ghost Mice and Heathers @ TBA
7/21: Guess Who @ Artpark
8/13: PHISH @ Darien Lake
Plus Crosby Stills and Nash are coming to the Fallsview at some point.
Keep in mind that its only April and this is all before the Thursday in the Square lineup is announced. Not bad at all! It's safe to say that this will be the funnest summer ever! I'm hoping to be playing more shows in Buffalo as well and tons of open mics and whathaveyou, so I'll keep you very posted.

I'll have a lot of new music for you guys soon and some covers and art and cool stuff.
Thank you for all the support!
Have a wonderful day!

April Showers

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_aCxPnufts0U/Sd18ZA1i0HI/AAAAAAAAASw/c1zpLvYN-wQ/s400/IMG_4891.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322547103784947826" />
Oh man, there is a ton of stuff going on these days! Less than two months until tour begins and I'm still really excited. Madeline just sent me an e-mail declaring the booking of the tour officially over! She booked this entire tour all by herself by virtue of diligence and girlish charm alone. I really owe a lot to her. What an amazing person. This news leaves the revised itinerary looking like this:

May 28th: Knoxville, Tennessee @ Pilot Light w/ Centralia Massacre
May 29th: Murfreesboro, Tennessee @ TBA w/ Colby R. She played a really great set that warmed my heart to hear. You should give it a listen as soon as you can.

Madeline Ava on Phoning It In!

In other news, I was stalking one of my last.fm listeners the other day (which I always do) when I stumbled upon a souper-dope mp3 blog called "Soup, Eerie, Oar, Taste" (get it?). As it turns out, Starchild isn't the only blog where Max Weiss original songs are available for download. Obviously this guy has really great taste in music so you should check out what he has to say.

Soup Eerie Oar Taste

I've been tirelessly writing and working on many songs and I promise that you will see some evidence of that soon. I'm trying to work out recording and how best to produce what I've got so far. I really want to have some discs to give away while I'm touring. That is my main goal. Here is a video recording of one song I've been working on lately entitled "Oh, Dude".

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_aCxPnufts0U/Sd2C6sW5PQI/AAAAAAAAAS4/7y6MH6EoVYM/s400/IMG_4878.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322554279473003778" />

In other news, I have some new crazy recordings! My friends Elliot and Shane of Gondwanalande and Nick of MLK and the Rays helped me record some of my songs as an awesome four piece rock band. Those guys are so cool, and very talented. We did two songs, "You Will Never See The Pictures" which I wrote in August, and "Happy All The Time" which I wrote in March. The songs came out really good I think, even though I just dubbed my voice over the original jams. We're gonna play around with the mixing some more but I'm really happy with the way they turned out. We're gonna be working on some of Shane's songs next I think!

"WDW Sessions" March 29, 2009
1. You Will Never See The Pictures
2. Happy All The Time
3. Happy All The Time (Extended Version)

Shane Kerr- Slide/ Lead Guitar
Nick Earl- Bass
Elliot Hughes- Drums
Max Weiss- Vocals/ Guitar
Gondwanalande Myspace
I'm not sure how much I like the name "Happy All The Time". What about "College Town Killer (Happy All The Time)" or is that parentheses thing lame? It's still one of the greatest songs I've ever made. I've got a lot more garage-rock style songs on the way as well, but don't fret! If all goes according to plan this May I'll be going on a tour all over the south and midwest with some really amazing people!
I became penpals with Madeline Ava this time last year, or rather, she sent me a really beautiful letter that I eventually neglected and lost. I have been a really terrible penpal to so many of my friends. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to each of my forsaken penpals. I am sorry. I promise to be more punctual and elegant.
In the time that I've known Madeline she has taken up ukulele, songwriting, and kicking a ton of ass. She's been playing shows in her home of Knoxville, Tennessee and crooning to the hearts of the masses on the 001 Collective. It's all really groovy. Her songs are sweet in every sense of the word. When she started setting up a tour with her friends Ron and Matt I was really jealous. While I was home for Christmas she invited me along! All of the sudden Knoxville didn't seem so far away and since I'm the only one with a car it seemed to work out really well. I really needed something to look forward to and oh boy am I. I look forward to this our nearly every waking moment of my life. Did I mention we'll be playing with some of my favorite artists along the way including Craig Peters and Tinyfolk?!? It will be unbelievable and you should come!

May 28th: Knoxville, Tennessee*
May 29th: Lexington, Kentucky*
May 30th: Bloomington, Indiana with Tinyfolk*
May 31st: Chicago, Illinois with Craig Salt Peters*
June 1st: Appleton, Wisconsin*
June 2nd: Madison, Wisconsin*
June 5th: Lincoln, Nebraska
June 6th: Lawrence, Kansas with Hawley
June 7th: Springfield, Missouri
June 8th: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
June 9th: Ft. I managed to record a handful of my old songs off of "Ode to Peter" in a matter of a day or two. "Ode to Peter" is a working title for the album of songs that I wrote between 2007 and 2008. I'm also contemplating the name "Terrapin Spaceship". These are the first "high-quality" audio tracks I have ever recorded and I really hope you like them. They're some of my favorite songs from last year. Please email me at maxw@newbuffaloshirt.com and let me know what you think. I'm really open to criticism, especially concerning the production. He came into my life last year and we became very close friends. One of the main things that united us was out love of punk music. Leo lived in America for about six months an on his last night in town we decided to record a live record of us performing all of our favorite songs to sing together. There are some covers and some originals old and new. we were a band for one night and we called our selves Hot Awesome. All in all it's just an emotional souvenir of our friendship. These songs will always remind me of him. I miss that band.

Hot Awesome- "Friday, January 18" 2008
45.09MB

1.
