As tour inches ever closer and school wraps to a close, some serious excitement is setting in. Here's the news:

Madeline Ava's new split is out on Sidejar records! Sidejar is an awesome Lexington, Kentucky based DIY label that sponsors great shows and releases. This particular record is a split with Kentucky native Joe Magnum. His music is awesome and he'll be playing some dates with us on tour this summer, which I'm really looking forward to. The album has six (probably incredible) songs from each artist. I'm going to order one and you should too. Madeline will be selling copies on tour, but you should buy it now so you know all the words when you come see us.

You'll notice that June 5th through 7th in the above itinerary are all spent at the same festival. That is maybe the best part of all! Sidejar is putting together the fourth annual Crucial Fun Fest! This show has an AMAZING three day punk lineup in Lexington and I am somehow lucky enough to be in the good state of Kentucky at the exact right time. A whole bunch of my favorite bands will be there including a bunch of bands that we will be playing with at different times in the tour! It's almost too good to be true. We were a late addition, so we'll be mostly digging the scene, but I was also informed that Madeline Ava, Mrs. Triceratops and myself are invited to play an "aftershow". It's gonna be super fun no matter what. Here's the flier for the pre-aftershow:

Oh man, there is a ton of stuff going on these days! Less than two months until tour begins and I'm still really excited. Madeline just sent me an e-mail declaring the booking of the tour officially over! She booked this entire tour all by herself by virtue of diligence and girlish charm alone. Speaking of our friend Madeline, she was recently a guest on the Providence based radioshow "Phoning It In" where she and her uke rocked the masses. She played a really great set that warmed my heart to hear. You should give it a listen as soon as you can.

In other news, I was stalking one of my last.fm listeners the other day (which I always do) when I stumbled upon a souper-dope mp3 blog called "Soup, Eerie, Oar, Taste" (get it?). As it turns out, Starchild isn't the only blog where Max Weiss original songs are available for download. Obviously this guy has really great taste in music so you should check out what he has to say.

I've been tirelessly writing and working on many songs and I promise that you will see some evidence of that soon. I'm trying to work out recording and how best to produce what I've got so far. I really want to have some discs to give away while I'm touring. That is my main goal. Here is a video recording of one song I've been working on lately entitled "Oh, Dude".

In other news, I have some new crazy recordings! My friends Elliot and Shane of Gondwanalande and Nick of MLK and the Rays helped me record some of my songs as an awesome four piece rock band. Those guys are so cool, and very talented. We did two songs, "You Will Never See The Pictures" which I wrote in August, and "Happy All The Time" which I wrote in March. The songs came out really good I think, even though I just dubbed my voice over the original jams. We're gonna play around with the mixing some more but I'm really happy with the way they turned out. We're gonna be working on some of Shane's songs next I think!

This is the greatest thing to ever happen to me and my music. If all goes according to plan this May I'll be going on a tour all over the south and midwest with some really amazing people!
I became penpals with Madeline Ava this time last year, or rather, she sent me a really beautiful letter that I eventually neglected and lost. I have been a really terrible penpal to so many of my friends. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to each of my forsaken penpals. I am sorry. I promise to be more punctual and elegant.
In the time that I've known Madeline she has taken up ukulele, songwriting, and kicking a ton of ass. She's been playing shows in her home of Knoxville, Tennessee and crooning to the hearts of the masses on the 001 Collective. It's all really groovy. Her songs are sweet in every sense of the word. When she started setting up a tour with her friends Ron and Matt I was really jealous. While I was home for Christmas she invited me along! All of the sudden Knoxville didn't seem so far away and since I'm the only one with a car it seemed to work out really well. I really needed something to look forward to and oh boy am I. I look forward to this our nearly every waking moment of my life. Did I mention we'll be playing with some of my favorite artists along the way including Craig Peters and Tinyfolk?!? It will be unbelievable and you should come!

Just before I left for school I sat down and learned how to use my Tascam DP-01 8-Track recorder. I managed to record a handful of my old songs off of "Ode to Peter" in a matter of a day or two. "Ode to Peter" is a working title for the album of songs that I wrote between 2007 and 2008. I'm also contemplating the name "Terrapin Spaceship". These are the first "high-quality" audio tracks I have ever recorded and I really hope you like them. They're some of my favorite songs from last year. Leo Zimmermann is a punk from Munich, Germany. He came into my life last year and we became very close friends. One of the main things that united us was out love of punk music. Leo lived in America for about six months an on his last night in town we decided to record a live record of us performing all of our favorite songs to sing together. There are some covers and some originals old and new. we were a band for one night and we called our selves Hot Awesome. All in all it's just an emotional souvenir of our friendship. These songs will always remind me of him. I miss that band.
